Araz Rezavand Hesari presents his latest results in a new publication
Congratulations to Araz Rezavand Hesari who publishes the first in-depth experimental analysis of the flow in the vaneless space and inside the inter-blade channels of a Francis turbine operated in no-load condition. We discover a flow characterized by strong velocity fluctuations, backflows on the pressure and suction sides of the blades, and vortices moving upstream towards the distributor. Numerous illustrations highlight the interactions between these different phenomena.
This work follows on from a previous publication in which Araz presents the experimental configuration that made his measurements inside the Tr-Francs model possible. The manuscript of his latest paper is now online and can be downloaded from the Journal of Fluids Engineering website.
